LDS just finished up another Pledge Year, accepting 12 new members.  This year there was a new and creative twist to the whole process.  Due to LDS's popularity (!!!) a cap and some new regulations were applied to the organization.  LDS now has a cap of 45 members (which we are currently at), a GPA requirement of 2.75, and a Concordia Only policy.

With this, Rush week consisted of an LDS information meeting, get to know the rushee events, and interviews.  The rushees were given points according to their attendance, interviews, and coinciding values.  From this the actives narrowed the rushes down from close to 20 to 12 pledges.

This began LDS's pledge week consisting of all the usual activities.  To see our 12 new activies take a look at the "Ladies of LDS" page and the pledging page.

Thank you so much for the foundation you layed for all of us. Can't wait to hear from all of you!

Bekki Dubord:  (2003 graduate)

Hello Lambda Delts!  Since returning from Mexico and graduating from Concordia, life has slowed down considerably.  Jason and I moved to Bismarck, ND where we were both able to find good jobs.  I work for Unisys Corporation, a Fortune-500 company that deals with technology services.  My position is just entry-level, but it's a great opportunity to use my International Business degree.  I work with 11 different Latin American countries, processing their orders for our services and I am also the Spanish speaker for my department.   We are both excited for Jason to start graduate school in 2005 so that he can begin his desired career. Our marriage is still amazing, everyday we thank the Lord for blessing us with eachother.  And although we recently became an aunt and uncle, we have no immediate plans to start a family of our own! I pray that your lives at Concordia and with the Flamingos bring you as much success as it has brought to me!
Love, Bekki DuBord   Class of 2003

Coley Merrit: (2002 graduate)

Graduation came and went.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone!  I have two full time jobs now...accounting by day, and waitressing by night.  The money is not too good, but that will change in a few months when I go through my preliminary evalauations.

Sure Foot is the best company I have ever worked for.  Everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful when ever I have questions.  I guess we make quite a few products that I have used for years, but never thought about where they came from.  If you guys ever need any fleece or shoe products let me know, I bet I could get you a discount of some sort.  (Did I mention we also manufacture thong and tank sets?)

Moving back in with mom has been kinda rough.  I forget how quiet she likes the noise level to be.  Apparently I am too loud most days.  Good thing I pretty much only sleep here other wise we would have killed each other by now.  I also forgot how to live in a space that is not a 8 x 10 isolated block in which it is okay to have messes because there is just no where else all that stuff can go.  Mom likes a neat house, and it has taken quite a few adjustments.

The wedding plans are still moving along.  If any of you are interested in seeing our website, the address is
www.weddingchannel.com  you have to log in by asking for one of our names.  You can read all about us, that is if you really want to, and also what the details of the wedding are as well.  Remember to let me know if you would like to receive an invitation.  I would love to see all of you there!

I will write more later!  Hope you all have a great semester at Concordia.  See you soon!
Love Coley!

Anna Holle:  (2001 graduate)

I am a LDS alumni and 2001 graduate.  I wanted to give you a little update on what I am doing and I also wanted to tell all of you what a wonderful job you have been doing with LDS.  A newsletter is a great idea.  One question: Is the flamingo your new mascot?  Sounds like you girls are having a great time and taking a lot of pride in our society.  It really warms my heart to see that.  When I pledged LDS in '97 and the following two years was bar none the best time of my life at Concordia.  Unfortunately I had to become inactive during my Junior and Senior years, but the friendships that I formed will be with me forever.

I am now in graduate school for community counseling at Minnesota State University Moorhead.  I am working two jobs and loving life.  I am dating a wonderful man, Jeremy, who is a Mayville State U grad.  Ok, maybe I tease him a little about graduating from Mayberry Tech, but I can't help it.  I have my internship and thesis left, about 1 1/2 years.  Enjoy your college life because the REAL WORLD is hard sometimes.  Ok, I am not going to sound like an old person here!

Anyway, that's were I am and I really enjoy hearing from the other alumni.  It is so hard to stay close when we are all over the country, so it is so nice to come to a website and hear from everyone.  I wish everyone well in the New Year and hope to hear from you soon!

Love,

Anna Holle

Kelly Seyfert: (2001 graduate)

Well I have decided to return to the midwest.  I have currently moved to Appleton, WI, where I hope to find a job in the near future.  Otherwise life is doing great.  I had the opportunity to see some of the current actives on my trip and that was wonderful.  It is great to be able to return as alumni and see that the great experience we had are still continueing on.  Also on my trip out I was able to visit with Heidi Bale, and she is getting married Oct.5th!!!  To a great man she met while attending an LDS function.  I think it is rather exciting, and wish them both the best.

Recently I have decided to stop trying to plan my life, and to just live it.  So I went and bought a ticket to Italy for Oct.  Why not?!  I hope that everyone else is doing great.  Good luck with homecoming and pledging activities in Oct.

Emily Kurheitz: (2001 graduate)
It's been great hearing from some of you! I'm glad to hear that life is treating you so well. Life for me has been pretty happy, too. Maybe you'd like to know what is going down in my life. OK, so I still work at Como Zoo & Conservatory. We're right in the middle of this $20 million construction project, so there is always something crazy going on.  The people I work with are all so awesome, it's going to be hard to leave if I ever find a real job. This job is so great for people watching; there are so many free roaming mullets, you'd be very surprised. At the Zoo I work in the Customer Service Office and I'm the assistant to the Customer Service Supervisor.  At the Conservatory, I work in Admissions, the Administrative Office and help staff Special Events/Rentals, which are usually weddings. I don't get paid very much, but when your job is super fun, who cares?
My job also leaves me plenty of time to travel. I've taken several trips this year including going to Florida with my little sis, Angie Pantlin. I also just got back from Las Vegas. If you haven't gone there, you have to go at least once. It is quite interesting to say the least. I also went out to western South Dakota, which may sound kind of boring, but I went out there to meet my boyfriend's family.  It was a little nervewracking, staying with people whom I have never met for a week, but it ended up great and Reed (my fiercly awesome super fantabulous boyfriend) and I are happier than ever. Even though he goes to school in Laramie, Wyoming and he still has a 5th year left next
year. Boo.
I guess I better be on my way. I just got a copying job from Education. I went to college for four years and I use my skills to operate a copy machine. I rock.
I have the rest of my life to get a real job, so I'm going to have fun right now!
Stop by and visit sometime. The zoo is free! I hope to hear from more of you soon, and I hope you're all having a great spring!!

Angie Taylor: (2001 graduate)
I just looked at the website. It rocks!! I thought I'd update my info.... I moved to Arizona in November for an AmeriCorps position with Habitat for Humanity. I live in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix. Everything is great so far... the weather, the job, the guys!! I met a great guy that is originally from Connecticut. We'll see what happens. I also found out that a friend from high school lives down here so that is cool. Other than that, I'm just enjoying life. I miss seeing all of you. Take care and keep us alumni updated of events.
YOu never know when we'll be in town.

Emily Rankin: (2001 graduate)
Hola Chicas! Beautiful website! You make us alumni proud:) I am enjoying married life with Jason in Forest Lake and relishing the warm winter temperatures (compared to ND
winter temps!). I am working as a technical writer now in downtown Minneapolis for a company called CustomGuide, Inc. the commute is a witch (1 1/2 hrs one way during rush hour), but I get to work from home twice a week and e-mail my work, so it's OK. I work with Melissa Berg, a fellow 2001 Cobber grad, if any of you knew her. She's a lot of fun. I'm also volunteering and taking a couple of grad classes from the U of M over the internet. And I thought life would be less busy after college... Jason is teaching
business ed. at Chisago Lakes high school and coaching womens hockey. I try to make it to a lot of games- they're fun to watch. That's about it here- I hope all of you actives and alumni are having a happy new year!!! Best wishes!
XOXO, Emily Mahlen (Rankin)

Tami Schrader: (2001 graduate)
I am doing well. I finished my first semester of grad school at University of Pittsburgh. It was rough, but I did really well and it's a relief to know that this new second semester will not be so difficult since I have learned "the ropes" so to speak. My focus is in Security and Intelligence and I will be taking the Foreign Service Exam in April with hopes of passing. I have definitely decided that I want to be a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. gov't. So...time will tell I guess.

I just came back from spending Christmas and New Years with Antonio in Italy. We went skiing in the Alps and traveled to some vineyards and toured some castles and stayed in some bed and breakfasts along the way. It was a very romantic and restful holiday. It was also a very eventful holiday in terms of our relationship. He and I talked about marriage. It's all quite shocking because I still feel so young to even consider marriage, but it also in the same breath feels right. I'm sure those of you who are in serious relationships understand that. I will keep you all posted on this, but if it happens it won't begin to take place until I have graduated with my Masters next spring and have secured a job with the gov't. But, when this occurs I will let you all know and hope you will consider coming. (:

Anyway, I have babbled enough. I hope you all are doing well and I wish you the best in the last semester of this year. For those of you graduating - take deep breaths and seek your happiness!

If I can ever be of any help to any of you in anyway let me know. I will do my best to help if not now then maybe in a few years once I have secured a good career. I miss you girls immensely and I smile when I look at my photos!

Good luck to those of you who are engaged and make sure you keep all of us, whom have graduated, updated often! (:

Sarah Agre: (2001 graduate)
I just wanted to write to wish everyone well. Alexey and I relocated to Chicago in September and we are finally getting settled. I just finished unpacking our last boxes a few days ago. I have been looking for jobs in the area which has been interesting. After the attacks on the east coast no one was even posting job openings anywhere or conducting interviews...until this past couple of weeks. However, I have a couple of prospects with Edelman and with Accenture.

Chicago is so beautiful! I love my apartment! Alexey and I ended up finding a really nice two bedroom apartment.....so if anyone feels the urge to take a road trip there is plenty of room here to accommodate more than a few people.....or if anyone is passing through O'Hare give me a call we can meet at the airport. We live right downtown which is really nice. I love being able to be near all of the action. I do miss all of you tons and tons. I have had you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I can just imagine that the start of the school year has been a blast! I would love to be put on the email list so that I can keep up with all of the tid bits of knowledge that is sent out. Also it would be helpful for me to know when there are any alumni things going on....i.e. homecoming tea :)
I figure that if I am not working that I might as well take a little trip. So I would love to stay in the loop to keep tabs on everyone.

I would also love to get some updates from all of the LDS alumni too. Oh, Alexey and I have been giving thought to getting married in Chicago next summer....it is just in the initial stages right now....however...I wanted to give all of you a heads-up, since I hope to have some showing from my alma matter. :)
I wanted to get married in a castle somewhere....princess like....anyways there is a registered castle 25 min outside of Chicago (1 out of 7 in the US). So I will know more after I go to visit this location and also I will need to see if it will even be open next summer. There are 2 and 3 year waits at some locations here....and the hard thing is that you have to personally meet with a site-coordinator before they will tell you when they are booked....so it is a lot of running around.

I hope that all is well for my sisters! I miss you all! And I wish you all happiness and success!

Marieke Mygland: (2001 graduate):
I'm here in New York living at home (hopefully not for too much longer) bumming around and taking a break from life. I plan on going back for school this semester and in January I'm going to begin my life as a graduate student with education..I know..Cobberville did a load of good, com major going into el.ed. Anyways, so I'm here deciding whether to stay here or to get out and pretty much that's about it. My guy is living here for a little bit while he tries to find a job but may not be here too much longer... (It's been long awaited by some of you but Kelly and I are officially boyfriend/girlfriend...though I guess it's been like that for a while though.)

Katie Juhl: (2001 graduate)
Right now I'm working at a bar and grill in the bar serving. I'm making super good money and loving every minute of it. I will start substitute teaching
very soon, which I'm excited about. I had two interviews for jobs but nothing came of them so far. I have been living at home and taking care of my mom,
who just finished her last chemo treatement for breast cancer so if you could also ask that everyone keeps us in their prayers that would be wonderful!!

Heidi Bale (2000 graduate)
On October 5, 2002 I married Jeremy Larson aka Chimp from SPD. It was a awesome day. I totally felt like a princess in a fairy tale.

Emily Kurhazetz made it to Billings, MT for the wedding. It was awesome to see her again! I even got to meet her boyfriend Reed.

Jeremy and I honeymooned in San Diego, CA right after the wedding. The weather was beautiful and we saw lots of sights... the zoo, Sea World, a Chargers game, the BEACH! and a whole lot more. It was the first time either of us had been.

We are in a one bedroom apartment right now. It's pretty crowded and most of our wedding gifts are still in storage at his parents house. But, hopefully we'll be in a house some time this summer. I would love to have a yard and a dog (lad preferred) to go with it. Married life is wonderful!

I saw Kelly Seyfert not too long ago. She stayed overnight at our apt. on her to Wisconsin. We had so much fun catching up!

I'm still working at the University of Mary and coaching gymnastics on the side.

Hi!  I'm an LDS Alumni!  I got the Flamingo yesterday in the mail and I'm so impressed!!  You guys sure have done a lot of work to improve our society!!  NICE JOB!!  All the implementations are things that should have been done years ago (i.e. the cap on actives, GPA standards, ect.).

I dug up some old photos and I thought it'd be fun to post them on your awesome website for us old alums to giggle at.  Thanks for all the hard work you girls are putting into LDS.  Being involved in the society was one of the highlights of my years at Concordia.  Love to all!!
